Willowbank  U14s  4  Northend United U14s  0                              Saturday 29th October 2011

Northend got off to the worst possible start going a goal down in under a minute. Willowbank played good football and Northend found it difficult to get into the game for the first ten minutes. With their midfield finally getting into the game Northend began to play well. They created chances however their inability to convert them into goals has proved to be costly so far this season. Northend's defence was always under pressure with Willowbank's midfield supporting their front men at every opportunity. Good work by Ciaran Neeson and Michael Carberry kept them at bay till with one minute before half time when Willowbank scored their second, leaving half time score 2-0 to Willowbank

Second half started with Northend pushing forward, David Kilgore and Leo Morgan played well and the midfield did try to support them, however Willowbank where always dangerous on the break. The second half was saw good football played by two teams who at every opportunity kept the ball on the ground and passed to feet. Again Northend just cannot convert their chances and this puts pressure onto the defence, who tried hard to contain a very good set of forwards. Willowbank scored two more goals and finished the game strongly

Glendowan  U14s  4  Northend United U14s  1                                         Saturday 22nd October 2011

Northend started the game well playing good neat football. Glendowan showed early on why they are unbeaten with high energy good passing and lots of positive movement. Northend completed well and good approach play down the right wing by C Bannon saw a deep cross played over the Glendowan defence, where H Kilgore continued his good form fired on the volley into the roof of the net, to give Northend a deserved lead. Northend had a good spell of play however Glendowan now upped there game and soon had the Northend defence under pressure. An excellent save by J Morgan in the Northend goal keep Glendowan out, however he followed up with an outstanding save which brought applause from both sets of supporters when he threw himself across his goals to finger tip a fierce shot round the post Glendowan controlled the midfield and soon won a corner, which was head clear by M Carberry under pressure from two Glendowan strikers ,the ball fell to an unmarked player on the edge of the penalty box ,who found he was not closed down quickly enough which allowed him to  strike a high shot goal wards. Morgan in the Northend goals made a valiant effort and he managed to push the ball onto the crossbar however it dropped downwards into the net. Glendowan now were in full flow and only good and at times last ditch tackles by the Northend back four kept them at bay. Just before halftime Glendowan scored their second, when good play saw their centre forward in the clear to produce a fierce shot into the top corner. Half time Glendowan 2 Northend 1

Second half started with Glendowan on the attack once again, however this time M Carberry and Y Woitowicz in centre of the Northend defence held firm. C Neeson who had another very good game at full back won a good tackle and played C Bannon who played T Ferguson through down the Glendowan left wing. He produced a great ball which cut out the Glendowan back four to let D Kilgore have a clear run in on goals, however he mistimed his shot and the ball went just wide of the right hand post. Northend kept trying to get a second only for Glendowan to score their third with good play through midfield. With only a few minutes left the hard working L Morgan played H Kilgore through on the left side, with two defenders all over him he fired a good shot goal bound only for the Glendowan keeper to push it away. Glendowan scored their fourth goal of the game, again with very good play combining their mid and wide players.
A disappointing finish to the game for Northend who had played well however the more robust  and very good football side that Glendowan are proved to strong .

Northend United  U14s  0  Carrick Rangers U14s 4                                              Saturday 15th October 2011

A performance well below the standard set by the Northend central defenders today contributed to a defeat which in the opening twenty minutes was not on the cards. The inability to deal with a long ball down the middle was to lead to three of Carrick's goals. Carrick's number nine L Carroll showed the Northend forwards how to finish, three chances and three goals. In contrast yet again Northend just cannot put away the chances that they create in a game. Harry Kilgore played well again to day however when Northend did fine space to shoot J Gaw in Carrick's goals was in fine form and produced two excellent saves from C Bannon, and H Kilgore. Northend tried to play their way into the game and to be fair they where the side that played football. At times they found themselves overstretched in midfield and good covering from J Dawson and L Morgan kept Carrick at bay. However yet again lack of communication and getting caught the wrong side of the attacker, and poor finishing caused Northend dear in the first half.
Half time Northend 0 Carrick 2

The second half started well for Northend and again they played some lovely one touch football, If Gaw in Carrick's goal performed well in the first half he made two outstanding saves at the start of the second to keep Northend at bay. Northend pressed hard to score however once again a long ball from Carrick's Keeper caught out the Northend defence and Carroll scored his and Carrick's third. . Morgan in Northends goal had reason to be cross with his centre backs as three times they left him exposed, with no chance with any of the goals. To their credit Northend kept playing and looking to get on the score sheet however once again it was not their day.

Carnmoney Colts  U14s  0  Northend United U14s  2                                          Saturday 8th October 2011

Northend United U14s turned up to day as a team, with a point to prove an what a difference was seen by the faithful supporters. They played a quick passing game and their ability to switch play down either flank where K Kilgore in particular was outstanding was done with pace and precision.
With the back four laying down, a solid platform, the midfield of Thomas Ferguson, Conor Bannon, Yanusz Woitowicz, and Harry Kilgore where excellent. The work rate and passing was second to none and with the ever willing Krystian Yaworski non-stop running being the perfect foil for the dangerous David Kilgore to feed off.
This was a good game and Carnmoney played their part, as they looked dangerous on the break; however their goal keeper pulled off three very good saves to keep Northend out. Harry Kilgore to-day showed the form that makes him a very good player his attacking play was first class however his work rate in covering back and defending was very professional. With only through balls to content with James Morgan in the Northend's goals was ever alert, and from his excellent distribution came many of Northend's attacks. Northend kept pressing for the first goal and the Kilgore brothers went close also Conor Bannon fired a shot just over the bar. However the half time score remained 0-0

The second half continued with Northend again pressing forward. Jack Dawson played a super ball down the line were  a great solo run down the left wing by Harry Kilgore leaving three Colts players in his wake, to fire a fierce shot goal bound .With the Colts keeper not able to get across to it Krystian Yaworski took no chances and guided the ball into the net.
From the re-start Carnmoney pushed forward however the defence of Neeson Carberry, Kelly and Dawson where in no mood to concede a goal. Again with good attacking football and midfield players supporting the front strikers Northend just kept pressing for their second goal.
From a corner kick Conor Bannon drove a low shot to the front post where a Colts defender with one eye on the ball and distracted by the on charging Northend players, allowed the ball to strike him low down on his leg and end up in the net. With three Northend players about to pounce on the ball a goal seemed certain however with Northend recent bad fortune there is no such thing as a bad goal.
Krystian Yaworski was replaced by Leo Morgan with twenty minutes left, and he provided a more central target man up front. With this in mind Northend now played a different game and played the ball up to Morgan who held the ball up and brought players attacking from wide into the game. Ronan Ward replaced Bannon who had another very good game and was soon giving the Colts left back a torrid time with his pace and consent non stop running. Ferguson was replaced by Adrian Dubyna who added that little bit of steel to the midfield. By now it was all one way and the three substitutes blended straight into the game and each gave a very good account of themselves.

Northend United  U14s  2  Barn United U14s  3                                                        Saturday 1st October 2011

Northend should have recorded their first win this season today, however with numerous chances to score missed, and not passing the ball to better placed team mates, caused them another three points lost. What is refreshing is the positive attitude displayed by the team and the increased work rate overall shows that the commitment is there and will be rewarded soon with a victory.
Northend started the game quite nervous and the direct style of football played by Barn was causing problems for Northend's defence.  Slowly Northend played their way into the game with Yanusz Woitowicz beginning to win the ball in midfield with Thomas Ferguson and Conor Bannon pushing forward. Northend have speedy forwards and with the service now coming from midfield it was Barn's turn to be under pressure. Northend missed some unbelievable opportunities to score, and from a quick break by Barn, found themselves one nil down facing halftime. Good play in the midfield by Northend  forced a series of free kicks, and from one the ball broke to David Kilgore on the edge of the box and the young forward struck a low shot into the net leaving the score 1-1 at half time.

The second half saw Northend play good football and they kept Barn on the defensive. Again the midfield of Northend was in control and with strong running by Michael Carberry from the back linking up well with Yanusz Woitowicz this gave plenty of the ball to Northend's wide players. Northend had to make a forced change when Conor Kelly was on the receiving end of a quite hideous tackle which saw him carried off the pitch. Much to the disgust of the Northend team no caution of any level was handed out by the referee. To rub salt into the wounds minutes later following a long ball out of defence by Barn their forward who was standing in a clear offside position took control of the ball and scored to put Barn 2-1 ahead.
Credit to Northend they continued to attack the Barn goal at every opportunity and from one such attack Krystian Yaworski was tripped and a penalty was awarded.  Conor Bannon stepped up and converted it with a strong shot low into the corner of the net. With minutes left Northend had numerous chances to score however the wrong option was taken each time.
Barn to their credit kept working hard and they found reward, when Northend pushed out after an attack only for the ball to be played back into the area where a Northend player was recovering from a knock played three Barn players onside. With just Northend's keeper to beat the ball was played across the goals for a Barn player to score. The referee blew the whistle for full time almost immediately.
Credit must go to-day to all the team as their hard work deserved at least a share of the points. Ciaran Neeson had an outstanding game at full back, Conor Bannon was strong through the game and L Morgan played well at centre back when he replaced Conor Kelly. Thomas Ferguson had another good game in midfield, however Yanusz Woitowicz was Man of the Match

Whitehead  U14s  8  Northend United U14s  2

This was another disappointing display from this Northend side. The loss of three key players due to illness did not help however the players selected to-day should have been able to give a much better account of themselves. Once again very poor defending and a lack of determination by too many players to work for seventy minutes is a major contribution to this team's poor performances so far this season.  Credit goes to-day to Ciaran Neeson and Conor Kelly, who playing in defence gave good performances, also David Kilgore and Krystian Yaworski featured well throughout the game.
Conor Bannon and Krystian Yaworski were the goalscorers on the day for Northend.
James Morgan in goals could not be at fault for any of the goals as he was left exposed too often, as the two central defenders where out- numbered too often.

Upper Ardoyne  U14s  6  Northend United U14s  3                                  Saturday 17th September 2011

The Referees card said a brilliant game of football. Northend and Ardoyne both played very good football and to the neutral it was a good game of football to watch.
Yet once again Northend shot themselves in the foot with what can only be described as school ground defending. Upper Ardoyne found themselves 3-0 up after twenty minutes. Northend had played good football and had hit the crossbar twice and had put the opposition's goal under pressure. However they still have at present difficulty in keeping a clean sheet.

The introduction of Conor Bannon and Sam Biggerstaff in the second half gave Northend more attacking options. From a Free kick some twenty meters out Sam Biggerstaff struck a brilliant shot into the top right corner. This lifted the team and a few minutes later Yanus Woitowicz struck a monster of a free kick from thirty meters out which left the Upper Ardoyne keeper stranded. Score now 3-2 and game on.
Again with Northend pinning Ardoyne back and causing panic in their defence, once again lack of concentration let a harmless ball played forward become a danger as the ever alert S Borland raced through and shot pass Morgan to make it 4-2.
Within minutes Northend pulled another goal back with a fierce drive by Davis Kilgore from just inside the area. Score now 4-3.
Northend keep pressing for the equalizer and a share of the points, but they overstretched themselves at the back and Ardoyne scored two more goals on the break. The Northend Manager has to quickly find a solution for the defence that last season was the main strength of this team.

Loughside U14s  2  Northend United U14s  0                             Saturday 10th September 2011

This was a vast improvement by Northend who worked hard in training during the week. With new players now becoming available the coaching staff will have to work twice as hard as the players to produce a balanced team. The game was lost to-day by two very soft goals however there is positive points to take away from this game.
The introduction of Yanusz Woitowicz and Thomas Ferguson to the midfield has added strength and skill to the side. David Kilgore showed why he will be a very effect striker with his pace and ability to turn defenders. Northend should have at least taken a point from this game; however playing with the wind in the first half they just could not find that final pass that would let them in on goal.
A mistake between Northend's keeper and his defence let a through ball run on and while the keeper and central defender hesitated the Loughside forward who kept running gathered the ball and passed it into the goal. Northend played good football with Ronan Ward working hard down the right flank and the overlapping of Ciaran Neeson caused the Loughside defence problems, however that final pass just could not be found, leaving the half-time score 1-0 to Loughside

Northend made changes with Conor Bannon replacing Ward, and they pressed Loughside looking for an equaliser. Goal attempts from David Kilgore, Michael Carberry, and Thomas Ferguson went just wide of the goals.
Northend continued to press and looked dangerous with their Capt Carberry moving forward into midfield at every opportunity. Along with Yanus Woitowicz these two players provided Northend with pace and energy and more important the ability to take on opposition midfielders and defenders.
Further changes saw Jack Dawson replace Kilgore, Adrian Dubyna replace Biggerstaff in an effort to take the game to Loughside. An injury to David Kilgore saw further changes with Przemyslaw Nowak filling in at right back, Ciaran Neeson moving into central defence with Leo Morgan pushed up front.
Again and again Northend pressed the Loughside defence, however from a Northend goal kick, the ball was played back into Northend's defence where again hesitation by the defence allowed Loughside to score their second goal.

Northend continued to press but were unable on the day to find a way through the Loughside defence.

Northend United U14s  2 Comber Rec U14s  7                                        Saturday 3rd September 2011

This was a below par start to the season by Northend. Too many players just did not want to work, while Comber who where missing quite a few of their players showed what team work and a willingness to work off the ball, is all about.

Credit must go to Northend's new goal keeper James Morgan for his effort, with none of the Comber goals his fault and his performance in the second half merited mention.

Again their Capt. Michael Carberry was Northend's best outfield player who led by example.  Josh King and Ciaran Neeson also worked hard in the Northend rearguard, giving solid displays..  However the Northend midfield's below par performance affected the overall team display.

Comber on the day took advantage of the space offered to them and took their chances well. Their number 8 was at the heart of all their good work.

Leo Morgan and Adrian Dubyna got the goals for Northend on a day when the visitor's midfield dominance caused major problems for Northend.

Northend now look forward to the match against Loughside next week when a number of players will be back to strengthen the panel.
